About
Hi..! I am Gusti Ahmad Fanshuri Alfarisy, Ph.D., a lecturer and researcher in Computer Science with research interests at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, Environmental Informatics, and Agroecological Informatics.
My research focuses on developing intelligent systems that can operate in dynamic and open-world environments. I am particularly interested in applying Artificial Intelligence and computational methods to real-world problems in biodiversity, environmental monitoring, and agroecology.
Research Interests
My current research interests include:
- Open-World Learning and Open-Set Recognition
- Continual and Lifelong Machine Learning
- Biodiversity Monitoring
- Environmental and Agroecological Informatics
- Computer Vision
- Edge Artificial Intelligence
- Geospatial and Remote Sensing Analytics
Research Direction
My long-term research direction is to develop intelligent systems capable of learning, adapting, and acquiring new knowledge from changing environments.
A major part of my current work explores how Artificial Intelligence can contribute to understanding and monitoring natural environments, particularly in Kalimantan (Borneo). This includes plant species recognition, biodiversity knowledge systems, environmental monitoring, IoT-based sensing, and aerial image analytics.
Environmental & Agroecological Informatics Research Group
I coordinate the Environmental & Agroecological Informatics Research Group (EAIR), an emerging academic research group that brings together research and student projects at the intersection of computing, Artificial Intelligence, biodiversity, environmental science, and agroecology.
Current activities include biodiversity informatics, intelligent species exploration, environmental monitoring, smart soil sensing, and aerial image analytics.
Teaching
Topics I teach and explore include:
- Functional Programming
- Artificial Intelligence
- Machine Learning
- Deep Learning
- Open-World Lifelong Machine Learning
I am particularly interested in research-driven and project-based learning where students work on real datasets, software systems, and environmental problems.
Professional Activities
Alongside my academic activities, I am interested in helping researchers and organizations apply Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, and data analytics to research and real-world problems.
